Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Additional melted butter for brushing the tops

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Prepare Baking Dish:
    • Grease a baking dish or cast-iron skillet with a small amount of melted butter.
  3. Mix Dry Ingredients:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add Buttermilk:
    • Pour in the buttermilk and stir until just combined. The dough will be sticky.
  5. Form Biscuits:
    • Using a spoon or an ice cream scoop, drop portions of the dough into the prepared baking dish. You should have about 9-12 biscuits, depending on the size you prefer.
  6. Butter Swirl:
    • Pour the melted butter over the top of the biscuit dough. You can gently swirl the pan to make sure the butter gets around and under each biscuit.
  7. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
  8. Brush with Butter:
    • Once out of the oven, brush the tops of the biscuits with additional melted butter for a shiny finish.
  9. Serve Warm:
    • Allow the biscuits to cool slightly before serving. They are best enjoyed warm.
